“90’s Movie Art Show” at 10th Ave Arts Center and Colour Art Gallery’s first Life Drawing Event

The Tenth Avenue Arts Center (930 Tenth Avenue, San Diego, California 92101) is having a “90’s Movie Art Show”.  There will be multiple days that you can check out the opening: Friday, May 11th at 6pm, Saturday, May 12th at 6pm and Sunday, May 13th at 12pm.  This is a free event and all ages are welcome.  Check out their Facebook event page for more info

Colour Art Gallery Collective is hosting it’s first life drawing event on May 16th from 6pm to 9pm. Colour Art Gallery Collective is located on 8746 Complex Dr in the Clairemont area. Photography will be welcome at this event.  Admission is $12 at the door, $10 with RSVP before May 10th.  If you pay in advance before May 10th the cost is only $8. The Circus Collective Fundraiser and Show, April’s model schedule

Backfence Society’s Open Studio Drawing is now on Wednesdays

Backfence Society has moved their open studio figure drawing from Thursdays to Wednesdays.  The time is still the same, 6pm – 9pm.  And of course the address is still the same as well: 110 S Citrus Ave, Suite F, Vista, California 92084.  For this Wednesday’s session, Virginia will be modeling.  The attendance caps at 12, so checkout the event page and reply that your going.  You can even pre-pay online to guarantee yourself a seat.

Aerial Revolution’s CirKiss, GMAG’s Feeling Green, Yoni at Back Fence Society

For those of you who have drawn Jacqueline (Jackie) at the North Park Drawing Group, you know that she’s quite the amazing art model who doesn’t just pose but performs on the model stand. But did you know that she’s also an instructor and master of the aerial/circus arts? Come and watch her perform at “Aerial Revolution Entertainment presents, CirKiss: Timeless.” You have 2 chances catch this amazing show: Friday, March 2 starting at 7PM and Saturday, March 3rd also at 7pm. Aerial Revolution is located at 5370 Napa St, San Diego, California 92110. This show is for ages 21+ and may include some adult themes and costuming.  Purchase your tickets online to guarantee seats for you.

On Monday, March 5th GMAG has another drawing session themed “Feeling Green”. Everyone has the opportunity to bring green props for poses. All skills of artists are welcome as well as photography. The fun starts at 6pm and takes place at Twiggs Coffee House (4590 Park Blvd, San Diego, California 92116). The entrance fee is $20 but if it’s your first time and you bring a friend, then the cost for BOTH of you is only $15 EACH instead of $20. This is a 18 years and older event.

Back Fence Society is still going strong. They have a weekly drawing group every Thursday from 6pm to 9pm. For this Thursday’s drawing session (March 1st), Yoni will be modeling. The fee to attend is $15, but space is limited. Checkout their website where you can pay in advance.

Dr Sketchy’s, correction for the Martin Fine Art Classes address, and lost and found.

This Saturday, February 17th is another session of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School at the Merrow (1271 University Ave San Diego CA 92103).  This month’s theme is The Great Wild Adventurer featuring model and acrobat extraordinaire,  Steven Beasley.  The fun starts at 3pmand ends at 6pm. New Open Studio life drawing groups in North County

Two new open studio drawing groups have started in North County.

First – the North County Coastal Life Drawing will host their first drawing session this coming Sunday, February 11th from 3pm to 6pm for a fee of $12. It will take place at the Martin Fine Art Classes (162 South Rancho Santa Fe Road Suite E-30 Encinitas, CA 92024). The studio is past Champagne French Bakery Cafe, look for the Patio dining. Although walk ins are welcome, space is limited so pre-pay online for a guaranteed seat. Currently the North County Coastal Life Drawing sessions will be once a month on the 2nd Sunday.

SecondBackfence Society is hosting weekly open studio drawing at their gallery located at 110 S Citrus Ave, Suite F Vista, California 92084. Come and draw every Thursday from 6pm to 9m for the price of $12. Space is also limited, but you can pre-pay on their website through PayPal (click on the Donate button).

Starting February 1st, $6 attendance fee.

Due to the rise in operating costs, starting February 1st the North Park Drawing Group will be increasing the attendance fee to $6. Throughout the years the North Park Drawing Group has been one of the most affordable drawing groups in all of Southern California. We still strive to make figure drawing affordable to all artists and we appreciate one and all who can attend our regular drawing sessions. Without your support, we would not be where we are today. Thank you for helping us make figure drawing available to all.
